PerioDT by Young Innovations is a desiccation gel or liquid application that claims to reduce pocket biofilm, remove and coagulate debris from the pocket, is not an antibiotic, and has no post-op protocols to follow.

The product provides homeostasis to seal off the ulcerate tissues since the primary method of action is dehydration technology. This desiccation technology also pulls biofilm off the teeth, and some clinicians have reported that it softens calculus, and removes plaque leading to less operator fatigue and increased patient comfort.

It is safe to use on natural teeth, implants, and other prosthetics.

This topical adjunct can also be used on patients with heavy biofilm, moderate to severe inflammation, and for pre- and post-instrumentation during scaling and root planing cases.

Their studies found after 2 applications, there were undetectable bacterial DNA and inflammatory mediators 2 weeks post-treatment and a decrease of 99% in red complex bacteria.
